My empathy probably arises from the various middle-aged dramas in real life, whether from gossip or what I have witnessed - unsuccessful marriages, menopause, religion (or anything similar to it), …, which made me barely laugh at the water-worshipping scenes because it is so TRUE they seek mental support from any possible way. It’s not about the freaking water but the forming of a community and someone (the master, the sensi, the 大师) pretending to care.
